The launch fee is only one part of owning a website. Plan for domain and hosting renewals, business email, any paid software and the work needed to keep the site useful. The exact costs depend on the system and support agreement, so request an itemised budget rather than a single unexplained monthly figure.
Separate infrastructure from service work
Hosting keeps the site available, while maintenance covers agreed technical tasks. Content changes, new features, advertising and ongoing SEO may be separate services. A hosting invoice does not necessarily mean someone checks your forms or updates your application.
For each recurring item, record the provider, billing currency, renewal date and cancellation terms. Introductory discounts can make the first year different from later years. Confirm current prices directly with the provider when budgeting.
Budget for changes you can predict
A shop may add products, a consultancy may publish articles and an organisation may change staff details. Decide who handles those updates. Ask whether your support arrangement includes a defined allowance or whether each change is quoted separately.
Also agree what happens during an incident. Is backup restoration included? Who investigates a failed form? What are the support hours and communication route? These responsibilities should be written clearly enough that neither party has to guess.
Review value rather than collecting subscriptions
Keep a simple inventory of paid plugins and services. Identify what each one does and whether it is still required. Before cancelling, check dependencies, exports and any effect on existing features. Removing a service carelessly can interrupt a working site.
I can help review the technical responsibilities through WordPress support or discuss a new project. You can review my work first. For the initial budget, read How much does a business website cost in Nigeria?. For account responsibilities, see Who should own my domain, hosting and website accounts?.
A useful annual budget shows what renews, who owns it and what work is included. That makes the running costs easier to compare and helps prevent an avoidable interruption after launch.
