Why is my new website not showing on Google yet?

A newly launched website does not appear in Google simply because it opens in your browser. Google needs to discover the pages, crawl them and decide whether to index them. Begin with evidence from Search Console rather than assuming the site needs more keywords.

Check the exact public URL

Confirm the preferred address, including HTTPS and whether the site uses www. Open the page without signing in. Check for an accidental noindex instruction, a crawl restriction or a redirect to an unexpected address.

A live website and an indexable website are different states. Launch settings are easy to overlook when a site moves from a private preview to public use. My own launch review included checking those instructions explicitly.

Read the indexing status carefully

“Discovered” and “crawled” describe different stages. A page Google knows about may not have been fetched yet; a fetched page may still not be selected for indexing. Recent public Google support questions show that this distinction continues to confuse site owners.

Use a verified Search Console property and inspect a few important URLs. Check the selected canonical, last crawl and reported reason rather than submitting the same request repeatedly. Google's indexing help gives a starting point.

Improve discovery and usefulness together

Link important pages from the site navigation and relevant content. Include canonical public URLs in the sitemap. Then review whether each page offers a clear, useful answer rather than duplicating another page with a different title.

Keep a dated record of changes and inspection results. Technical accessibility is something you can test; the timing of Google's indexing decision is not something a developer can guarantee.
